Shiplap Tongue & Groove
A tongue & groove boarding offering a smooth planed finish. Each upper face is shaped with a shallow curve to offer a shiplap, overlapping appearance.
Overlap
A traditional form of un-jointed cladding where commonly square edge boarding is horizontally overlaid to create a weatherproof face.
Square Edge
A simple cladding method where square-cut boarding is secured in a solid butted or open slatted format to a parallel arrangement.
Description
The Shire Log Store has a simple design but a practical purpose.
Designed to store and dry logs ready for burning, the sides and rear of the log store are made from square edged timber with gaps between them to promote airflow.
The roof panel is made from overlapping boards to allow rainwater to flow off of the top and away from the contents. Ideally place against a wall or fence.

The shed was easy to assemble, fit perfectly in my awkward little space I had available and it looks good. I did give it 2 coats of perservative as well. I have two faults with it. First the front (roof) cross timber has a large knot and should not have been used. I did notice it at the time but thought it would be fine. less than 6 months later the piece has failed and is sagging. I can fit it with e brace of some sort, but for £200+ I shouldn't have to. Secondly and less important is there were several (maybe 7-8) places where the nailer missed the timber altogether. This causes a bit of a hazzard in exposed sharp surfaces. Easily fixed but could have been avoided. It appears to have been put together very hastily. Delivery was very good, on time and pleasant. At the time I felt the price was competitive and as stated above the dimensions were critical to me.

After some delay in delivery, due I was told to manufacturing difficulties, I received the parts for my log store. Where I would usually assemble things myself, especially if holes were already pre-drilled, these were not done so it became more of a two man job. On saying that and having enlisted some friends, we then spent a pleasant hour assembling a strong and very presentable log store. It not only enhances my garden but also stores logs! It looks good and I have received compliments from my neighbours about it. It was a good price, the cheapest I had seen for a similar product so no complaints here. I did have to pay for the erection of it with cakes, so be prepared!
