The Shire Hampton Summerhouse would make a stylish addition to any garden. Designed to be placed into a corner, with all of the outward facing walls being glazed or part glazed to allow maximum daylight to flood into the building.
The double doors and the flanking windows are glazed in the Georgian style, with many small square windows. The Hampton Summerhouse is made from tongue and groove cladding to the walls and floor.
The roof panels are solid sheet boarding. Mineralized felt is supplied to cover the roof and full instructions, fixtures and fittings are provided as standard.
While it is designed for placement in the corner of a garden, we recommend allowing a little room all around this corner summerhouse to make it easier to re-apply wood preservative as instructed.

Shire operate mostly small, flat-bed trucks. If a dustbin lorry can reach your property, Shire should too. Limited access? Please call us prior to ordering to avoid a costly abortive delivery.
Unloading will take place at the kerb-side or your adjacent driveway. Vehicles will not leave the public highway. The driver, at their discretion, may be willing to carry the goods to your garden. Shire will not carry goods through or into your home, therefore you may wish to arrange some extra help privately.
Shire offer a free delivery service within Central and Southern England, as indicated by their red zone on the map below. The above postcode checker will confirm this for you.
Pick A Day Delivery
For products on '7-14 days' delivery located within the majority of Shire's free red zone, during the checkout process you will be offered a calendar which allows you to select a preferred delivery date. Shire will endeavour to deliver on the date you have chosen. You will be promptly notified in the rare event that an alternative date is necessary for logistical reasons. As some distant red zone locations (such as BA postcodes) are serviced on a 2-day (overnight) run, the actual delivery day may vary by +/- 1 day of the date chosen. The following red zone locations are excluded from the Pick A Day service; BB, BD, BH, BL, BS, DH, DL, DT, FY, GU, HG, HR, L, PO, PR, SO, SP, SR, TA, TS and WN. Note: When an installation option has been chosen, a Pick-A-Day selection will not be offered; due to additional, post-order labour scheduling.
Delivery will typically occur within the period quoted on this product. For those products outside the '7-14 days' offer, you will be given the opportunity to chose your delivery date via Shire's online booking portal; a link will be sent by text or email a day or so after order. If a date is not chosen, Shire will notify you in advance by either telephone, text or email to confirm their date of delivery.
Less frequently serviced locations such as those outside Shire's red zone, may be subject to an extended period of up to an additional 7-14 days. These distant locations include North and South-West England, Wales and Scotland.
Installation (Extended Delivery)
If an installation option is chosen the product delivery period will increase by approximately 14 days, to accommodate additional labour scheduling. Therefore, a '14 Day' self-assembly delivery will become a '28 day' installed order.
The only offshore location Shire deliver to is the Isle of Wight; PO30-41. A green zone delivery charge applies to this island.
Shire does not service the following distant onshore locations; Northern Ireland (BT) and Scottish Highlands (IV4+, KW, PA20-78 and PH19-44). These form the yellow zone as shown upon the lower map. All offshore locations are excluded too, examples being; Guernsey (GY), Western Isles (HS), Isle of Man (IM), Jersey (JE), Orkney (KW), Shetland (ZE) and Scottish Islands (PA & PH).
Due to additional Shire zone fees, certain distant locations can only be serviced at a surcharge (at cost). The above post code checker can confirm if a surcharge will apply.
These locations include:
Orange Zone (CF,CH,LA,NP) at £30.00 (except 28mm+ Log Cabins at £132.00)
Blue Zone (CA,EX,LD,NE,SY) at £36.00 (except 28mm+ Log Cabins at £168.00)
Green Zone (DG,EH,G,KA,LL,ML,PL,PO30-41,SA1-18,TD,TQ) at £48.00 (except 28mm+ Log Cabins at £264.00)
Purple Zone (AB,DD,FK,IV1-3,KY,PA1-19,PH1-18,SA19-73,TR) at £78.00 (except 28mm+ Log Cabins at £360.00)
This map offers a visual impression of the four surcharge zones. Delivery is free within the central red zone. No delivery service is available to the yellow zone.

We found the Summerhouse much easier to assemble than we thought it would be. One of the windows was warped but we overcame this by fitting a bolt at the top of the window to straighten it. We found the when the left door was bolted there was no way of opening the other door without a handle. On request a copy of the handle was supplied and works now. Something that I feel should be supplied as standard if a pair of hook and eye so that both doors can be kept back when open. We found without these the doors swung back and forth with the wind. We are very happy with the summerhouse which we are using in this good weather.

Item delivered in great time, far quicker time frame than other places I looked at. Product good for the price. Took a while to build but that was with only one person. A few adjustments were needed. We bought better quality roof felt elsewhere. Went together OK but the windows do still randomly pop out at times. Nothing that can't be put right with a DIY minded person. Much bigger inside than I thought it would be. Overall, a great little summerhouse for the price and with the right care should hopefully last for years. We had read some negative reviews but as it was still the nicest one we had seen for the price we still went for it. Absolutely no regrets!

The glass for the doors and windows was missing from the delivery and had to be sent separately. Instructions were confusing in places. Some of the wood should not have been passed by quality control as it was very roughly cut and the worst being one of the back panels looked like it had been gnawed by a beaver. One of the cross members supporting the windows was loose causing it to sag when the window was fitted. All the hinges were awkward to fit and the instructions for them were not clear. The tacks for the roofing felt were very short and did not secure the roofing felt at the corners where it was folded. The wood treatment was missing on a large section of one of the outer doors. Some of the wood for the trim had split as well as the tongue and groove flooring which was very roughly cut at the exposed end under the doors. We didn’t expect to have to assemble the glass into the doors and windows ourselves and the numerous pieces of fiddly beading (which we haven’t assembled yet) look as if the will split when pinned and will probably need pre-drilling. The rough chip board ceiling panels don’t enhance the look at all and will need further coats of wood paint to make then blend in. Overall once we have finished working on the summerhouse it will look great in the garden but it is a lot more work than we expected. In an ideal world we would have returned it but a lot of the issues did not arise until assembly was underway. We had to wait so long for it to be in stock and even if a replacement was sent, there would be no guarantee that there wouldn’t be similar issues. Be prepared to have to do a lot of prep, fettling and tweaking. Pre drilled holes would have been helpful. It was the style with the windows and doors that attracted us and if we could have got this style from our local firm who would have assembled it for us at a further cost we would have gone with them as any issues would be easily resolved. Not sure I would go down this path again but we will have a lovely summerhouse once we’ve put in a lot of hard work.

Summerhouse delivered on time and complete. Very competitive price, ordering easy and professional. Construction needs element of know how and at least two people to erect especially when roofing. Painted outside before erecting which was time consuming requiring 2-3 coats but preferable to painting after erecting. Glazing tedious, best to drill holes for pins as pins split the timber if hammered in without drilling. Summerhouse now sited and looking really good. For the money very soon pleased.

I'm pretty happy with the overall result after the assembly as well as with the delivery time. The instructions are easy to follow and you can almost do all the work by yourself, thanks to the small mounting pieces. But I'm not happy with the quality of the wood. There are plenty of dead knots and cracks in the woods. With a better selection of the wood, it would be perfect. Fortunately, many of the wood defects get hidden after assembling all the parts, but some other are quite evident.

Overall not bad, delivery was good and value for money. I do advise sealing every gap possible as we had a few leaks through the windows and roof. Love to see how it fairs through the winter on my windy hill.

All good, delivered on time, product satisfactory, husband managed to assemble and it looks good on completion. Would perhaps finish it off if there were slats for the back roof felt. But its at the back, so no problem.

Excellent quality summerhouse and very well made! Instructions were very clear and I am a complete DIY beginner, with just a hammer and a drill and the helping hand of a friend we had it up in no time! I do have to admit, the hardest part of building this summerhouse was putting in the glass and the individual spindles of beading that come with it to secure the glass in place! These seem to all be cut too big and we had real trouble getting these in. The worst part was hammering the nails in, because the spindles were so thin it was difficult to get the nail in without snapping and we ended up having to take them all back out and use glue instead!

Received my corner summerhouse promptly, albeit the charges for delivery were rather high. We found it easy to erect and the finished article looks fabulous. My only suggestion to manufacturers is to provide a lockable closure with the building. We found it difficult to find a narrow lock to be inserted in the two doors. The doors open back really fully to allow sunshine in. The windows open which is a plus. I’ve enjoyed decorating it beach style and it is our sanctuary. Good quality and would recommend.

Good quality, quite easy to erect, needs 2 people. Get the base level important. I used Gorilla glue to fix the glass. Wary of hammer and nails near glass.

This product was ideal for the space we had available and it was at a very good price, lower than all the other companies we looked at. It was was relatively easy to put up with 2 people and I am now in the process of painting. The only comment I would make is that I found it better to use sealant on the windows before adding the beading. Now looking forward to using it.

Ordering our shed couldn’t have been easier. Delivery communication was excellent, clear and on time. The instructions were easy to follow and assembly was very straight forward. Being the budget product, we were pleasantly surprised at the high standard and quality of the shed and we are really pleased with the finished product. We have no hesitation to recommend and will definitely use this company again.

Pros: Construction was simple and the instructions were, generally, easy to follow. Building the summerhouse is well within the capabilities of a single person. Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the wood, hardware and fittings relative to the overall price. It is the most popular part of the garden at the moment (early Spring) for reading, listening to books/podcasts/radio and afternoon tea! Excellent customer service (see General comments below). Cons: Nothing major. The door opening is only around 170-175 cm high which seemed a little low. However, I am around 180 cm tall with a tendency to bang my head on low level obstructions and I haven't banged my head yet entering or leaving the shed! The supplied turn latches were far too small; I bought some black bolts (to match the other black door furniture) as an alternative along with some black gate latches/eyes to hold the doors open when the wind blows. General: Insufficient 60mm screws were supplied but a call to Shire and a full replacement hardware pack was sent within a few days. Instructions mentioned 3 pieces of roof felt but only one roll was supplied (plenty for the job). Recommended drill sizes in the instructions were a bit confusing; 5mm and 3mm did the job but why the instructions recommended a 1mm drill bit is still a mystery. I had to shorten one roof batten to make the final section of the roof fit plus the expected 'trimming' to doors to make them open and close easily (the opening windows needed no adjustment). Four extra panes of glass supplied. I spent 4 days building the summerhouse on my own: (1) treating wood, preparing site (flat patio) and assembling floor, (2) assembling walls/windows, (3) roof, felting and doors, (4) adding door furniture and trimming doors to fit. Nice gentle work.

The summerhouse looks lovely now it’s constructed. The product is good. Unfortunately the order arrived a couple of weeks earlier than I had requested on my order form. The handle of the summerhouse door is too big to fit on to the wood so I shall have to purchase a smaller one.

Pleased with the finished product. I would say though that unless you have some DIY skills and some decent tools you will need help. I got a local carpenter to help. The panels and window areas were not square and needed levelling up. Def need at least 2 people as pieces are large and awkward. Took 6 hrs one day and approx 3 hrs the next day to complete the build. I pre sealed all parts with a wood preservative and once dry I painted the outside areas. Easier to do all of this before putting together. Then touch up afterwards. Overall very happy with the finished product.

I like the shed, it's a nice design and it's big. I would say it's value for money but please be aware that it is overall of cheap construction. Takes a proper 1-1.5 days to construct (I had 3 people). I would advise a completely flat foundation as the door doesn't have a supporting frame around it and can go in wonky.

Delivery as promised on time. Summerhouse very good quality and easy to assemble with plenty of spare screws and nails etc. Only complaint is that the window glazing would be much better if it was on the inside of the windows and doors rather than external. (ONE GARDEN COMMENT: Glazing is placed externally into an inner-rebated frame purposely, to ensure rainwater drains to the outside rather than into a building.)
