A steel hasp and staple is used to secure wooden gates. Interlocked when closed and securable by a padlock (not supplied). Style can vary.
Description
The Shire Overlap Bike Store 7x3 is part of a range of buildings made from kiln-dried timber, making them much more resistant to warping.
They feature 34x34mm thickness framing that is usually reserved for more expensive tongue and groove buildings.
This bike store has a no-floor design and should be situated on and secured to a firm, level concrete base for stability (customer to provide their own base fixings).
The roof is formed from a solid sheet boarding, again on a 34x34mm framing. Access is provided by a handy double door, complete with a hasp and staple (customer to supply padlock).

Purchased this after reading the online reviews, to be fair they were mixed but when you balance this against the cost felt it a worthwhile risk. As it does not come with a floor I had already made the decision to build a floor, used 18mm OSB and 25x38 battens. This helped to make sure the shed was square when assembling and putting the roof on. It was delivered direct from the manufacturer with a timed delivery slot, came with assembly instructions and everything you need to assemble it. Made sure everything was there before starting which it was, having seen reviews of split wood and nails not in properly also looked to see how each part was. All the panels were good other than one nail which missed, pulled it out and refitted it. Impressed on the quality of the items used and how they had been put together. Started assembly following the instructions, it took me around 3 hours in total to assemble it. Again impressed with the instructions and how well it went together, the only comments are some of the infill strip dimensions were wrong (it obvious what goes where also the angled sections are front and rear as well as left and right (front are T&G rear is lap). Roof felt is a bit thin and has split on the corners but its water tight so that's fine. The only modification i made was to add a batten across the rear panels which come in two half's as it flexed to keep it straight, also secured it to the floor. Overall impressed with the whole shed from ordering to delivery and assembly especially for the cost.

Not impressed. Flimsy construction. I had to brace it on the inside with quite a bit of extra wood so that it stood up to any windy conditions. I also had to buy additional clasps to ensure the doors stayed shut. I guess you get what you pay for and if I’d have factored in the cost of all the extras that I needed, I could’ve bought a more substantial one. Lesson learnt for next time. This bike store is a low cost, entry product which employs a basic overlap cladding and no-floor specification to achieve a bicycle storage solution at a budget price. For an alternative of a higher specification, offering superior tongue and groove cladding and a floor, we also offer the Mercia Shiplap Apex Bike Store (ONE1045), albeit the enhanced specification comes at an uplift of over £100 in price.)

OK, so this product isn't going to win awards for being the most sturdy shed ever, but then the price point reflects that. It's not going to fall down and is pretty straightforward to put together (although we did have to make a little adjustment to the front trim to let the doors open fully). If you want something completely burglar-proof, you'll need to look at the more expensive sheds. It's a rather striking orange colour, but this does fade, or it can be painted. It comfortably stores 2 adult bikes and a whole range of garden tools and bike accessories. It was very easy to install hooks, shelves and hanging rails inside and if you want to make it even more sturdy, a few extra batons would be easy to add. All in all, considering it was delivered free to my garden on a specific Saturday, I am impressed with the product and service for the price I paid.
