Oriented Strand Board also known as OSB. Layers of wood flakes set within a glue-like resin, compressed into a solid sheet. Common in sheds.
Mineralized Roofing Felt
A garden building roofing felt in its commonest form. Coated externally with small stone flakes or grit to deter the effects of weathering.
Styrene
Styrene, Polycarbonate and Acrylic are all terms for tough, single sheet plastic glazing. Styrene will not shatter like glass, so it is ideal for playhouses.
Hasp and Staple
A steel hasp and staple is used to secure wooden gates. Interlocked when closed and securable by a padlock (not supplied). Style can vary.
Description
The Shire Overlap Garden Shed 12x8 is part of a range of apex roof sheds made from kiln-dried timber, making them much more resistant to warping.
They feature 34x34mm thickness framing that is usually reserved for more expensive tongue and groove buildings.
Each of these Overlap sheds have a higher eaves height when compared to the equivalent size, regular overlap buildings allowing more headroom inside the shed.
This shed also features windowed side panels that can be placed on either side of the building to best suit the position of the shed in your garden.
The glazing is safety styrene to the fixed windows. The roof and floor are formed from a solid sheet boarding, again on a 34x34mm framing.
The wall panels are constructed of overlap cladding and supplied in modular sections. The main advantage of a modular design is that each individual panel should be small enough (in one or both dimensions) to be carried by one person. As a concequence the individual boards may not line up perfectly with those on adjacent panels, due to the variences in the natural timber cladding.
Access is provided by a handy wide double door, complete with a hasp and staple (customer to supply padlock).

Easy to order and I received good communication about the order throughout. The shed came really quickly, which was excellent considering the wait with other suppliers. The shed was extremely good value for money but as you can imagine, the quality isn't brilliant - you get what you pay for! The quality is perfectly acceptable - the only 2 things I would mention are that the doors are quite low and I keep banging my head! The other is the doors, I think we're going to reinforce them as they would be very easy to break into.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the shed for the price. I will say that this the first shed I've ever purchased and assembled so perhaps some of the below is to be expected. It went together ok, but the instructions could be much clearer. It would be great if there was a youtube link to somebody assembling the same or a similar product, it wouldn't be that difficult to do and would take away a bit of the guess work if your not a master craftsman! There were some bigger than expected holes and cracks to fill once assemble just due to poor manufacture. I also added a few wood screws here and there to firm things up a bit. Particularly in areas where the overlaps had split. My shed was also missing some parts, one role of felt was missing and the bolts for the doors. To be fair I didn't contact one garden about this as I was mid build when I discovered it and needed the felt to make the shed waterproof ASAP as rain was forecast for the afternoon so I went and bought a roll myself and some bolts whilst I was there! Make sure you have a framing hammer to put the window panes in as the ones supplied were glass and I found it precarious banging in the nails next to the glass, the instructions said that they should have been perspex. I used small wood screws instead of nails in the end and that made things much easier. I pre-drilled all the batons and it took no time after that.

The shed itself is brilliant, but the delivery driver was less than brilliant!. He delivered the shed and refused to place it on my property instead leaning it against a skip on the pavement, when my wife asked him not to place it against the skip but lay it on the front lawn his response was “it’s not my job!” and “it’s a two person lift” maybe in the future it would be a good idea to have two people delivering. I have pictures of the way it was left if you would like to have for reference. (ONE GARDEN COMMENT: Thank you for your feedback. Strictly speaking the Shire driver may well have been delivering within his remit as defined as "Unloading will take place at the kerb-side or your adjacent driveway", if for example a driveway wasn't available he could pull onto. Please accept our apologies that the manufacturer's driver didn't explain this or go beyond his remit more readily. All of our garden building manufacturer's operate a 1-person delivery profile, as they all strive to maintain a free delivery service whenever possible, without the financial burden of a 'paid passenger'. Please forward the pictures, we will share these with the driver's employer.)
