The arch is well made of solid pressure treated wood, and the colour is so nice we have decided now not to paint it as it looks just perfect untouched. It took a bit of time to put together, as the instructions are not great & it requires a lot of careful measuring to assemble correctly, but once completed & installed it looks quite fabulous. In fact, we were so pleased, we have since bought the sister Cambrian arch to go with it. One tip - I would highly recommend using corner spikes to anchor it down, as it is a bit wobbly if left free-stood!

  The arch way arrived promptly & all parts present. As quoted it needed 2 people to assemble it. The trellis work was not easy to locate and screw on to the uprights. We feel it could have done with predrilled guide holes and longer screws. Once put together we fastened into the ground using 600mm fence spikes. We feel these should have either been part of the supplied assembly or available to buy from the supplier. We are pleased with the overall effect it has on our garden and have planted honeysuckle to grew up each side. Overall we would grade the purchase as 4.5*

We ended up adding extra wooden supports to the bottom and cementing those into the ground and connecting them to the arch using metal brackets to make sure it was really sturdy.   On the whole the arch looks good and I'm pleased with it. The wood, as supplied, has a very high moisture content, so I suspect it is not particularly well seasoned. Hopefully the preservative has penetrated sufficiently. All of the screws supplied could do with being 5-10mm longer to make the joints more sturdy. Also, it would be nice if the 'rafters' along with the tops of the uprights, had pre-drilled holes for the screws. Anyone without a certain amount of DIY skills might struggle a bit to construct it. Once constructed, it's definitely a two person job to lift it into its final position. (ONE GARDEN COMMENT: The high moisture content is a due to the vacuum pressure treatment process, which forces the preservative into the pores of the timber. External timbers will naturally season once in-situ.)

  The components of the arch that was supplied looked damp, indiscriminately faded, second-hand and second rate when I opened the cardboard box which also had damage at one end. The damage to the box contributed to the breakage of the flimsy plastic box that contained the fixings. As a consequence there was only 1 qty 60mm screw left in the whole box. Upon submitting a complaint, I was advised to box up the arch, which would then be collected within 48hrs. I had a text from the transport company to confirm and it was duly collected. The replacement arch was received complete, but I still preferred to apply three coats of coloured preservative to ensure that all the components were of the same colour when assembled. One of the uprights was slightly twisted/warped upon examination, but after the issues with the first arch, I persevered and assembled it all myself. My partner is pleased with its appearance in the garden. (ONE GARDEN COMMENT: Thank you for the feedback, apologies that your original goods delivery did not arrive in a sound condition, as now resolved by a full replacement. Wooden components have many colour/shade variations (from near-white to dark brown) which are occur naturally in Softwood and should be expected. Shading (not "faded") is allied to the pressure treatment process where component parts are stacked/overlaid during treatment. Any shading will fade as the timber weathers once exposed to sunlight etc.)

The side frames had to be braced at the top to stop any rocking and the screws supplied were only just sufficient to anchor the assembly together. Might last a year or so.

  The assembly of this radiused top arch is not for the faint hearted and in fairness the instructions do advise two people needed. Some of the components have large and weakening knots and this resulted in a small piece of trellis being replaced. In general the overall quality is OK but once assembled the arch really needs to be anchored solidly, preferably in concrete to stop it swaying. It is not a premium product and this is reflected in the price, you get what you pay for.
